The Photos I Wish I Had
I didn't grow up with the kind of childhood you'd find in photo albums.
It was messy. Unstable. Full of hurt and absence.
And while there were good moments - they're hard to hold onto.
Because I don't have the photos.
No proof of joy.
No reminders of love.
No images that say, "you were safe. you belonged."
That absence sticks with you in a quiet, aching way.
Why I Pick Up My Camera
This is part of why I do what I do now.
I photograph families not just for pretty Christmas cards or social media posts - but for something deeper. Because I know how powerful it is to see your story. Especially the good parts. Especially when life is hard or complicated or not at all what you imagined.
When I photograph your family, I want your kids to grow up with proof.
Proof that they were loved wildly.
Hugged tightly.
Part of something beautiful.
Even if life wasn't perfect (because whose is)?, they'll have images that show them what was good. The laughs. The snuggles. The Saturday mornings in pajamas. The dirt-covered knees and bedtime books.
Because That Matters
Photos don't erase the hard things. But they can anchor us in love.
They remind us: you belonged here.
You were wanted.
You were part of something full of heart.
That's what I needed when I was a kid.
And that's what I want to give to every family I work with now.
So if you ever wonder why I care so much about the little details, the real moments, the messy, beautiful in-between-this is why.
Because those photos?
They're more than pictures.
They're proof.
